*Started working in radio broadcasting while in college as a news reporter/public affairs producer-host. Covered weekly press conferences for Mayor Maynard Jackson, the first African American mayor of Atlanta.
*After graduating from Spelman, continued working in radio part-time hosting and producing news, public affairs programs, and a weekly jazz show for a total of 12 years, while advancing my full-time career in public relations/communications.
*Received the annual recognition as one of the "Outstanding Atlantans."
*In 2000, honored by Spelman College with the Alumnae of the Year Award which was sponsored by Tiffany & Co.
*Named by PR Week magazine as one of the "Top 12 African Americans in Public Relations."
*From 1998-99, served as Chairwoman of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a professional association for corporate communications professionals with 15,000 members in more than 70 countries. I was the first person of color to chair this international organization. As an IABC leader, I represented the organization through speaking engagements in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South Africa.
*Known for being an award-winning PR/communications industry leader through writing for industry journals and manuals, along with public speaking at local, regional, national, and international conferences.
*In 2017, received the IABC Fellow designation from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) the highest designation for career achievement.
I remember sophomore year there was a "back to school dance" in the old armory. When James Brown's "I'm Black and I'm Proud" came on, everyone got off!

Continue to be in close contact with our classmate Eileen Wilson Gray and her husband Tracy who live in Atlanta. Also in close contact with Terry and Marsha Harps (Class of 1972) and Yvette Jackson Beasley (Class of 1972).

Wanda, thanks for your profile update. I started as a FORTRAN programmer, then worked for Honeywell where I oversaw COBAL training for Honeywell clients!
